CDC Foundation Activates Fund to Address Widespread Health Challenges Following Hurricane Harvey

In the wake of some of the worst flooding in U.S. history, the CDC Foundation today is activating its Emergency Response Fund to help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tackle the health challenges that the citizens of Texas and Louisiana are facing following Hurricane Harvey. The fund will extend CDC’s response, providing essential supplies and vital assistance as frontline experts work with partners to address community health needs and public health infrastructure in the storm’s aftermath.


David Aldridge Joins CDC Foundation Board of Directors

David Aldridge has been elected to the board of directors of the CDC Foundation. Aldridge is the former chief financial officer and executive vice president for Superior Essex Inc. (SPSX), a $2.5 billion global wire and cable manufacturing company. Aldridge has served as an advisor to the CDC Foundation’s finance committee for the last two years, and he now serves as committee chair.






Sir Richard Peto Receives CDC Foundation Hero Award

For his efforts to save countless lives worldwide by uncovering the root causes of cardiovascular disease and cancer and bringing data to bear on public policies, Sir Richard Peto received the 2016 CDC Foundation Hero Award. The award presentation followed Peto’s keynote at the “Halving Global Cardiovascular Disease Mortality Rates” symposium at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
