The CDC Foundation seeks a full-time candidate for the position of UX Developer to support the Maternal Mortality Review Data System project. The candidate will be hired as a field employee by the CDC Foundation and housed at the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the CDC’s Chamblee Campus in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is a CDC Foundation position that will work primarily with the Maternal Mortality Review Data System team and other partners.


The Maternal Mortality Review Information Application (MMRIA, or "Maria") is a data system launched in May 2017 to enable state and local-level maternal mortality review communities to collect and analyze their findings regarding maternal deaths. MMRIA allows users to enter data on maternal deaths, print de-identified case narratives and reports, and capture committee decisions. The data can then be exported in csv format for analysis. The system is provided free of cost to maternal mortality review committees for their own use. MMRIA is a custom application that can be run on a desktop or as a web application, and includes the following technologies: CouchDB, Microsoft .NET, JavaScript, and C#. View more information


The UX Developer will:

  1. support the lead developer in implementing and enhancing features according to requirements, working through a defined project backlog, and quickly implementing bug fixes;
  2. rapidly deploy new code;
  3. work in an agile environment and contribute to bi-weekly sprint planning meetings, attend daily standup calls and work in close collaboration with a small team; and
  4. work closely with a lead developer/architect, project manager, product owners and tester.


  1. expertise in client-side development using JavaScript, JSON/AJAX, and HTML 5; 2. strong expertise in user experience (UX);
  2. well-versed in agile development.


  • experience in server-side development using: C# 5.0, ASP.NET Web API 2, and Web MVC
  • experience with Microsoft.NET/.NET Core, jQuery, and Bootstrap
  • experience with CouchDB
  • experience with Ecma Script 6 (ES6)
  • familiarity with RXJS
  • experience working with Git, Vagrant, and Debian Linux
