The Power of Together: Your Impact

The Power of Together. COVID-19 changed our lives—but people have come together like we have never seen before. We found new ways to connect. We discovered new partners. We came together with creativity and innovation. As we look back on our work, I am grateful to each of you—every individual, every partner who gave what they could to support us.

As the nonprofit that supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the critical work of public health, the CDC Foundation became a central part of the COVID-19 emergency response. Hundreds of thousands of individuals contributed. Corporations supported emergency response programs. Celebrities shared important safety messages. Musicians gave concerts to raise money. Athletes challenged each other. Social media platforms joined in to help get the word out. In total, nearly $173 million was raised during our past fiscal year (July 1, 2019-June 1, 2020) for the COVID-19 response. CDC Foundation staff continue to work throughout the country to ensure the rapid and effective deployment of support and to fill gaps in public health.

While the COVID-19 emergency response was a focus for our impact, critical work also continued on hundreds of programs taking place across the globe to address health challenges—supporting maternal health, protecting children from violence, strengthening disease surveillance and data collection, and much more.

I hope you will take a moment to learn about this work in our latest Report to Donors. In the report, you’ll find stories about those who are making an impact—public health staff working on the frontlines of COVID-19, our partners who are helping us expand our work, and many others who have joined with us.

As much as we have accomplished, there’s still much more to be done. We are reminded daily of the lives lost. All of us have lost loved ones, friends and colleagues this year to COVID-19, and we will continue to bring together partners to do all that we can to make a difference and continue to support public health throughout the world.

Thank you for being a part of this critical, lifesaving work. There’s no limit to what we can do, together.
