National Public Health Week 2026

April 6th marks the start of National Public Health Week. Hosted annually since 1995 by the American Public Health Association (APHA), this year’s event is built around a theme of Ready. Set. Action!

Each year, National Public Health Week brings together public health professionals, students, supporters and organizations from around the world to celebrate and advance public health and the many roles it plays in improving our lives, safeguarding our families and strengthening our communities. Hosted at venues across the country, National Public Health Week offers an opportunity for public health supporters to get involved through advertising and engagement campaigns centered this year on the concept: Good Health Doesn’t Just Happen.

In coordination with this year’s Ready. Set. Action! theme, the week will focus on a series of priority topics designed to engage participants in various critical components of public health. This year’s focus includes themes of government partners, scientific advancement, community leadership and partnering with public health.

Across the country and around the world, public health is our health. This week provides an opportunity to showcase the tremendous role public health has played and continues to play in the health and safety of our families and our communities.
