The island of Hispaniola, shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic, is the only remaining malaria endemic island in the Caribbean. Because the continued malaria transmission has a significant impact on foreign investment, tourism, and economic productivity, both countries are committed to the goal of malaria elimination by 2020. Launched in February 2015, Malaria Zero consists of a CDC-led consortium of governmental, non-governmental and academic partners working together to assist Haiti to achieve this goal. CDC's Malaria Branch is seeking candidates for a health scientist position to work on Malaria Zero.
