Careers at the CDC Foundation

At a time when the world faces a growing number of public health challenges, from infectious to chronic diseases, the CDC Foundation has a very real opportunity to make a difference. The CDC Foundation is a nonprofit that helps the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) save and improve lives throughout the world. We combine philanthropic and private resources with CDC’s world-class scientific expertise and the CDC Foundation’s speed and flexibility to create innovative, high-impact programs and breakthrough collaborations.

We realize our success depends on our most valuable resource—our staff. The CDC Foundation looks for committed, talented professionals willing to engage in the complex work of protecting the public’s health. We value diversity of talent, ideas and backgrounds. Our staff works with CDC, public health authorities and partners to develop creative solutions to some of the world’s most complex health challenges.

Different Ways to Work with the CDC Foundation

CDC Foundation staff members manage and raise funds to support hundreds of programs, facilitate partnerships and lead the day-to-day operations of the organization—we recruit staff who are experts in program management, fundraising, population health, communications, finance, technology and more. We also manage field employees who work with CDC and public health organizations to help implement programs, work in labs or conduct research.

Beware of Potential Recruiting Scams

In August 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) published a Consumer Alert noting that scammers are posing as “recruiters” for well-known organizations. The FTC also shared other information on this scam. To help avoid being a victim of a scam, never give out personal information before doing research. Also, you should not use a phone number, respond to an email or open any links from someone you are not expecting to hear from who indicates they are a “recruiter,” or anyone using a “careers-cdcfoundation.org” address. We also encourage interested candidates to apply for open positions directly through the CDC Foundation’s website. Also note, we never ask for any sort of compensation from applicants as a condition of employment with the CDC Foundation.

We encourage applicants to contact the CDC Foundation directly using the email hr@cdcfoundation.org if you have any concerns. If you suspect you have been targeted in a scam like that described above, you can report your experience to the FTC at this link.

Do you need to certify employment for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)?

CDC Foundation staff or previous employees who are federal student loan borrowers pursuing loan forgiveness, please submit the PSLF form for employment verification to demonstrate your employment history to hrforms@cdcfoundation.org. The PSFL is a federal initiative to provide debt relief for individuals working in nonprofit and public service sectors. If approved by the program, borrowers can have their federal loans forgiven after they have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. Learn more about the PSLF program.
