Carlos Dominguez and Matt James Join CDC Foundation Board of Directors

November 2, 2011 – ATLANTA – Carlos Dominguez, senior vice president at Cisco, and Matt James, founding president and CEO of The Center for the Next Generation, have been elected to the board of directors of the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Foundation).

Carlos Dominguez has been with Cisco since 1992 and is a self-proclaimed “tech nowist,” speaking to audiences worldwide about how to leverage the benefits of technology now. Dominguez speaks full-time for Cisco and is an evangelist for how to use technology and the web to become a next generation company. Before his current role, Dominguez ran worldwide service provider operations at Cisco for three years and, previously, was vice president for service provider sales. He’s been named as one of the “Top 50 Hispanic Executives” in the United States by Hispanic Engineering and Information. Before joining Cisco, Dominguez held management positions at Timeplex, Inc., and at New Jersey Bell/Bell Atlanticom.

Matt James is the founding president and CEO of The Center for the Next Generation (TCNG), a California-based nonprofit policy research and communications organization dedicated to addressing some of the seemingly intractable problems in the nation, such as the need for clean energy and increased investment in America’s children and families. Prior to founding TCNG, James was executive vice president at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. James serves as an emeritus trustee to the Udall Foundation. He is immediate past board chair of the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health and a current board member. James is also a member of the National Advisory Committee for the Hunter College Center for Health, Media & Policy and the National Wildlife Federation’s President’ sAdvisory Council. He was the board vice-chair of Grantmakers in Health and has served on advisory committees for the Council on Foundations, Independent Sector and many other nonprofit organizations.
